How to reach Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik does not have a train station, so the most convenient way to get there is through Dubrovnik Airport (DBV), also known as Čilipi Airport, located about 20 km south of the city.

From Dubrovnik Airport to Dubrovnik City Center:

  1. Shuttle Bus: Outside the airport, you will find the Atlas shuttle bus service that connects the airport with the main bus station in Dubrovnik, located at the Gruž port. This service also makes stops near the Pile Gate, one of the main entrances to the old town.
    • Travel Time: Approximately 30 minutes.
    • Frequency: Buses usually coincide with flight arrivals, providing regular service.
  2. Taxi or Private Transfer Services: Taxis are available just outside the airport and can take you directly to your destination in Dubrovnik. You can also book private transfer services in advance.
    • Travel Time: Approximately 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic.
    • Cost: Typically between (approximately 27-40 €).
  3. Car Rental: Several car rental companies operate at the airport. This is a good option if you plan to explore beyond Dubrovnik during your stay.
    • Travel Time: Approximately 20-30 minutes to Dubrovnik city center.

From Dubrovnik City Center to the Dubrovnik Interuniversity Center (IUC):

  1. Walking: If you are staying near the old town, the IUC is within walking distance. From the Pile Gate, follow the signs to Don Frana Bulića Street until you reach the IUC.
    • Walking Time: Approximately 10-15 minutes from Pile Gate.
  2. Local Bus: Dubrovnik has an efficient local bus system operated by Libertas. The bus lines heading towards the old town can drop you off near the IUC. The nearest bus stops are Pile Gate and the main bus station at Gruž port.
    • Ticket Cost: Approximately 2.5 euro if purchased on the bus, 2€ if purchased in advance.
  3. Taxi: Taxis are readily available throughout the city and can take you directly to the IUC from any point in Dubrovnik.
